In its preparation to migrate to online system and with the installation of the electronic Mining Cadastre (eMC+) system software, the final phase of training for the MCO staff by the consultant, GAF AG of Germany for two weeks has kicked off on January, 2020 at the Digital Bridge Institute, Utako, Abuja.
The Electronic Mining Cadastre system ( eMC+) has been described as a state of the art in the administration management of Mineral Title for prompt, efficient and transparent management of MI throughout their life cycle.
The training programme is one of the components of the MCO up – grade contract signed between the Federal Government of Nigeria, coordinated by Mineral Sector Support for Economic Diversification Project (MinDiver) and GAF AG of Germany for the migration of MCO operations to an online-based Mineral Title Administration system, which will also encompasses the digitalization, automation, recording and archiving process (e-Recording/Archiving) as well as the establishment of six zonal offices in Nigeria.
According to the Director General MCO, Engr. Obadiah Simon Nkom, represented by the Director Concession, Mr. Amhed H Damagum, the eMC+ has been successfully implemented by GAF AG in some other countries, noting that the last phase of this training is also critical for the final migration which is expected to be launched by the end of March 2020.
The process which is in line with the Federal Government’s reform in the mining sector is expected to increase investor’s confidence, thereby attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), increase revenue generation, create wealth and employment for the teeming youth thereby reducing the level of current insecurity in line with the present Administration’s policy trust.
